A little boy and a one year old girl were killed this week in the Swedish town of Arboga, which is home to 13,500 inhabitants and is located to the west of the Mälardalen region. The children’s mother was badly injured too and she’s still under intensive care.
At the beginning, the main suspect for the dreadful crime was the children’s father. But it turned soon out that he has a solid alibi, so the police investigators and the prosecutor leading the inquiry must let him go.
This is the kind of history the scandal press loves. A flock of journalists has therefore invaded Arboga this week trying to get out as much relevant information as possible. They started then to speculate about whom else could be the slaughterer: the children’s stepfather, their own mother?
Journalists and investigators believe now that important pieces of information are waiting to be found in the blogs written by all the people involved in the tragedy. Especially the children’s mother wrote very openheartedly about her new relationship, about how much in love she had fallen and how endlessly happy with life she was feeling… And someone disliked what she wrote…
Now it looks like the killer was one of the stepfather’s former girlfriends. She is a German citizen and has a history of mental disorder, according to the latest press reports. Revenge could be her motiv, the psychology professor Sven Å Christianson says to the daily Dagens Nyheter.
Arboga’s disaster tells all of us quite a lot about the great risks we take every time we let millions of strangers to get access to our private spaces. Be cautious.

Where is the Swedish Obama?
21 03 2008Barack Obama’s speech in Philadelphia, PA at Constitution Center, is a great example of how politicians can endorse an insightful, honest discourse which get people of all backgrounds to work together to pursue a better future. When will we coloured and white Swedes get such brave kind of politicians? I believe the sooner it happens, the better it will transform this wonderful but sadly racist nation.
